International House of Hope Logo

Dedicated to saving lives by improving health.

The International House of Hope (IHOH) was founded in April 2005 by a retired American physician  living in the city of Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. He saw firsthand the consequences of poverty and poor health on the lives of families and individuals. He conceived the concept of IHOH as an organization committed to providing access to health care and health information to the impoverished communities in northern coast of the Dominican Republic

We believe that health care is a human right and that all people from all countries regardless of their status should have access to quality healthcare. We also believe that through education and an emphasis on good health we can alleviate the diseases of poverty. We hope that our efforts will lead to the empowerment of the underserved and impoverished who live in the barrios and bateys of the Northern Coast of the Dominican Republic (DR).

Support of International House of Hope enables the struggling families of the DR – those who often must choose between food and medical care – to have access to basic health care services. In this manner they find and experience hope for a better tomorrow.
